CASE: TELENET

Telenet is the largest Flemish telecom company. It sells both digital and physical products for mobile and internet solutions. Telenet’s mission is to connect people and create experiences to improve everyone’s quality of life.

THE ASSIGNMENT

Telenet decided to encourage people to collect all used mobile telephony products in their stores for recycling. So they asked us to come up with ideas for their head office as conversation starters for their new recycling program.

PHASE 1: THE ANALYSES

Telenet collected 11 pallets with recycled materials that we first had to separate. For this huge job we called in the help of our network. In the end, we were left with a considerable amount of usable materials for further research.

In addition, we established in a workshop that Telenet’s brand archetype is “the neighbour” with which we can provide direction for the concept to be developed.

PHASE 2: THE SELECTION

From the collected and separated materials, we made a selection of no less than 8 products that we further investigated, including telephone cases, hanging systems for the cases in the shops, wire material for chargers and headphones and screen protectors.

PHASE 3: THE CONCEPT
Of the proposed concepts, the bench was the favourite. Because a bench brings people together, which fits Telenet’s mission and the brand archetype “the neighbour”. The bench with table, which is intended for the coffee corner at the head office, gives the corporate department the opportunity to tell the other Telenet employees more about the new recycling program.
PHASE 4: THE PLATE MATERIAL
When pressing the sheet material, we noticed that some covers melted more than others. We started playing with this to on the one hand come up with a new handwriting that looks fantastic and on the other hand tells the story of the value of recycling.
PHASE 5: THE PRODUCT

In the end, Telenet was allowed to make 2 tables with benches that are now the eye-catchers in the central meeting room. And we are looking at how we can further translate the concept into retail channels, among other things. To be continued…
