Karma Kebab is a delicious, 100% plant-powered kebab full of local vegetables and grain. These traditional Dutch ingredients grow naturally just around the corner, and that is precisely why it is so logical to make kebabs from them.
Karma Kebab has now poured their years of festival experience into a catering business. With 400m2 restaurant/bar, 250m2 terrace, a gigantic event hall with the middle a 22 meter long bar. They asked us to design something really special that would fit their new catering business.
We have looked at the waste streams that Karma Kebab now has, but also which they will receive from their new catering facility. That is not only food, but also paper and plastics.
From the current and future waste streams, Karma Kebab chose the caps of the plastic bottles from which soft drinks will be poured. We have already gained experience with this material for another client so we knew what we could make from it. And the stunning result of that previous project gave the inspiration for the concept for the new bar.
The idea of the bar was already decided, but not yet its furnishings. Studio Neef Steef made the drawing for the bar and gave our new to develop plate material the place it deserved, where everyone sits and eats their kebab: the top of the bar.
We collected the caps in the right color: purple, pink and yellow. These colors match perfectly with the brand and the color palette of the interior. The challenge now was to deliver the 22-meter-long bar, which we had to make in separate parts, and in such a way that it could be mounted perfectly on site.
The bar top has become the eye catcher of the hall. It’s a great object for photography and PR, and of course a great opportunity for a meaningful chat with the bartender.
